3.0 and Paypal IPN Id like to get some feedback on how well the Paypal IPN works with the 3.0 version of the script. Does it work like Vbulletin's subscription system? |
Just so I understand: Does that mean that the error prone "return to merchant" button is no longer needed at paypal. The requirement for the users to click this button was THE biggest problem with my users. |
No there is still a return url. There is now IPN as backup which you set for all transaction in your paypal settings to send all transaction data to the payment verification script and it verifies the transactions. |
You are killing me. Are there any chances of getting a really working paypal solution in place? One that is independent whether a user who has no idea what he is doing clicks that stupid button or not? Paypal offers it, paypal offers the callback, Classifieds just needs to use it. I am sure our forum is not the only one having these problems, but I have for sure 10 folks a week complaining that their ad did not get activated because they did not click that button. Granted our regulars know it by now, but the casual user does not. THAT would be one of the biggest enhancement I can think of right now. Making it really work. EDIT: Just read that it might in fact be possible to utilize IPN? Which parameters and where do I have to set that up? |
Callback is used in shopping carts with paypal shopping carts I beleive their is no way paypal is going to auto forward you anywhere with a normal paypal window. IPN is something different. You can place in your paypal settings somewhere your ipn url and this would be the payment_verification.php script url The script works fine as it is written and no user has complained about 3.0. |
