Thumbs down Problems with 2.51

Here are a couple of problems I have encountered after upgrading to PhotoPost vBGallery v2.51 (for vBulletin 3.7/3.8 only) Build: 3/22/12 4:38 PM.

After reading numerous forum threads over the weekend, I assume these and other problems may be due to my version of PHP.

My server is currently configured with:

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
MySQL Version 5.1.61
PHP 5.3.2 (released in 2010)
vBulletin 3.8.7

The first problem was with vbgallery_install.php. After uploading the 2.51 files, the vbgallery_install.php failed to run. I resolved this issue with a suggestion made by another member in this 2010 thread:

****://photopost.com/forum/installs-upgrade-vbulletin-3-7x-3-8x/142913-vbgallery_install-php-fails-launch.html#post1268796

After upgrading vBGallery, "New Images on Index" or "Random Images on Index" empty on the Main Index page. Both blocks report "No Images to Display." Changing the "New Images Cutoff" and the "Random Images Cutoff" value has no effect.

In vBGallery Maintenance, when the Scan Database function reported a need to rebuild thumbnails for multiple files, I rebuilt them. This resulted in the loss of all those thumbnails. They were replaced by a single thumbnail file: _thumb.jpg. This thumbnail is now associated with all images that had their thumbnails rebuilt.

You can send us ftp info and url and admin login to take a look at your install for the thumbnail issue.

As far as your forum block that could be an issue with using such a newer vbulletin released far after vbGallery 2.51 which was released back in 2010.

There literally has been no work done to the 3 branch since before the release of vb4.

The recent build update was merely to include the issues reported recently into the 3 branch since they where already incorporated in vbgallery 3.0 series

I can the thumbnail issue but the code here should be fine unless there are other issues with using this old code on newest PHP's.

The vbgallery 2.x code branch is here mainly for archival and use on older vb3 series which where released when it was current.
