| Style Paths in Red?
I'm doing a new test install of VB Gallery (I'm licensed for photopost and I'm thinking of switching to Gallery). So, I'm going through the vbgallery_install.php process and I'm at Style Paths.
I recognize the paths that are automatically imported and they look fine.
But I have two in RED!! and I'm not sure what goes in this section. body is simply a CSS item the rest of these look like image -- and I don't recognize EXTRA2 at all.
Here's a screen shot. Thanks for the help:

Thinking about this... My body tag has a background image. Is that what should go in there? http://www.strat-talk.com/forum/styl...adients/bg.gif
I can't find EXTRA2 in CSS at all.

I cant say but your using a custom style so I guess extra2 has to be there somewhere but I would not spend too much time on this I would complete the install and see where your at.

OK, but I'm I correct about the path for "body" that the location of the background image for the body CSS tag goes there?

I would not put anything in there. If you have a problem after the install you can view the style class in admin and fix it.

OK, I went through to the end. But I'm not liking what I see. Why on earth is this add on effecting my other forum pages? It's messed up my Custom Skin quite a bit.
It's an add on. It should have no effect on the forum.
Even deactivated it messes up the skin. Not cool at all.

I cant say since I see no gallery but most likely related to your custom style. Most likely any urls or paths in style where not quite right. The only issue I see if your header nothing else so this could all be related to your header code. Try reverting the header

I see that your program rewrote my main CSS file and templates. The body attribute in CSS is totally blank. Why on earth is this separate add on program rewriting my templates and CSS without so much as telling me that's what is happening?

The program will rewrite any image tag to a full url not relative that is needed because your showing that style over another directory because vbulletin. Thats nothing new you used Pro for years you know in custom styles images need to be full urls in the actual css.

All my image paths were already full urls and not relative. I didn't need Gallery to rewrite anything.
I sure don't remember PP, or Classifieds or RP having ANY impact on the rest of the forum. None of those close my forum (without telling me) and rewrite image paths again without bothering to mention that that is what it is doing.
Is there a way to install Gallery without it attempting to change basic CSS files and forum templates, etc?

If you want to run vbGallery you must go through the install and install everything. If there are issues related to the install or specifically a style when installing then the issue is with the style. Remember our product is a vbulletin addon. We support it to work properly with the default released vbulletin code. We can not claim that other hacks mods or custom styles are going to work without some physical interaction on your part or rewriting mods etc.
This is not uncommon all your issues here are centered on this custom style your using. If you know what your problem is with the custom style now then simply install the gallery and redo anything you need to do with the custom style.

My only complaint is that the install NOR the documentation bothers to mention that the install process is going to bleed past the confines of this add on and that it is going to actually modify other areas of a forum.
Obviously, people use custom styles on their forums all the time. This is not some new or limited occurrence. Any and all issues with custom styles could be easily addressed in the documentation.
In my opinion the install oversteps its bounds when it makes unannounced changes to non-gallery parts of the forum.

Everything we do is in the form of plugins we do not alter the forum files. There of course are style addtitions etc when your talking about vb addon programs. I guess your use to how we do things in Pro which is not so closely tied to the forum operation.
The point I am making is our installer is made to install our product into vbulletin not be compatible with any other vb addon or custom style. It can make guesses on custom style entries but its always up to the user to correct things on the install. I can not tell you what to enter in those red boxes. That is why I stated to continue with the install. I would bet that if you switched your style to default and viewed the gallery it would look fine. So you know all you need to do is take care of the custom style issue and your fine. That is why we have a support forum. The install documentation is much the same as Pro we tell you now to install the program. It does not cover issues that may or may not happen with other mods or styles.
