Directory Path Quick question...I am getting ready to install vBgallery. My question is concerning the directory marked "forums". Is this intended to be uploaded directly to the root? Those files within the forums directory are not meant to mix in with the stock vB folders?? For example, the admin cp files within the vBgallery "forums" folder are not uploaded to the vBulletin folder named admin cp? The folder marked "forums" stands alone within the root?? |
No, you do have to upload those files to the vbulletin folder. So for example, your gallery url would look like this, http://www.yoursite.com/forums/gallery/ any file in the downloaded folder that's in the /forums folder should be uploaded in the vbulletin folder. As far as the gallery files, you can upload them anywhere you want and rename the folder. Don't worry about overwritting anything in the vbulletin folder. If this is a fresh install, you wont have to overwrite anything as the filenames are different than vbulletin files. hope that helped. |
Yes, it did help, thank you. Sometimes it's deceiving where to upload, developers assume everyone upload their vBulletin to a folder callled "forum". I'm in the root so I need to open up the photopost's forum folder and upload those files to my vBulletin directories. Just thought I would double check, because reviewpost has a directory called "forums" and it needs to be uploaded as a complete directory. Thanks for the help. |
well Photopost Pro Reviewpost and Classifieds all share the same code structure vbGallery is an entirely different product. The readme file for vbgallery should have explained what and where to upload I think |
Yes, it did explain. However, it explained the process assuming you had your forum installed in a directory within the root. Depends on the reader's angle I guess. Having just finished a string of night shifts, things are still a bit gray for me so I thought I would double check :) |
Okay well I just brought that up because when I read the directions I thought it was pretty clear those files would get uploaded to where ever vbulletin was installed. The directory names forums and gallery are merely defaults. For example you could call your vb directory vb and your gallery directory photos. It doesn't really matter as long as the proper files are uploaded into the proper directories. |
