| Another Database Error
Hey Chuck I think I have to humbly ask for your help .
I had VBadvanced gallery on my site a few years ago but since then I switched hosts and upgraded the forum a couple times which made it difficult to have the old gallery work so it wasn't being used. I just upgraded my license here and edited and uploaded everything for the new vBGallery install.
When I tried to install it told me I already had the newest version so I did the template install option instead and everything went to hell. My whole site is down with a database error. I can't access the admincp or the vBGallery_Install.php file.
This is where I may have made things worse. I figured it had to do with the templated from the old vba gallery install on the database so I dropped/deleted all the vba gallery templates in sql. That didn't work so I though I'd start from scratch on the install by deleting the ppgal templates. I didn't delete any edits the ppgal did into other templates though. That still didn't work..
The error that keep kicking back into my inbox is Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
I'm thinking the key there is the Quote: |
Table 'gkjapan_gkj.ppgal_user' doesn't exist
| Is there a way to clean this up or get it to stop looking for that table so I can redo the install? Is this error whats stopping my whole site from running?
Thanks

You can run the install and select uninstall to remove references of vbgallery but then again it all depends on what version you had before the install script is only going to delete the code its looking for not real real old vbgallery installs.

It looks like it was the 2005 version of vbgallery.
Which install are you talking about me running? The new photopost one or the old vba gallery one? I can't actually access the vbgallery_install.php through the browser since all I get is a database error page when trying.

Well I dont know the actual old vbgallery table names but I beleive they where vba_ prefixed.
You might want to make sure non exist for the old gallery tables as well as the new. what error do you get trying to run the install? If things are not installed you should not get any error.

Well old versions of vbgallery are not going to work with the new vbulletin. You need to use the 2.5 downloaded code.
There should be no errors that I am aware of trying to run the install script. You can send ftp info admin login and url and even database url and login if you want us to take a look and tell you how to proceed. You can send it through the contact us link above.

Ok I sent all my info through the contact us link.
I also included where everything is since it's a bit confusing. I have two forums on the host account and the gkjapan.com one is the addon.
I have no idea how the error above is stopping me from using the install script. As soon as I used the install templates option I was no longer able to get into the install page.

I REALLY appreciate all of your help! I'm kicking myself for not backing up the database before doing any installs but I never expected that to happen.

yeah already responded to your details. They do not give a successful login to your site. I am heading out for the night since it is 830pm but will check in the morning to see if you have provided the proper info.

Wow I woke up and everything was back lol. You're a PHP god to me right now hah I'm feeling much better about everything.
I put the old images back into the image folders so that the old picture links on the forum will work but I think I killed any chance of having them work in the gallery again since I deleted the old gallery templates when I was trying to fix the problem before asking for help..
What did the problem end up being?
Thanks again.

well you partially deleted things. You still have plugins for the gallery active etc so thats why you could not install or delete and reinstall etc. I was able to delete those plugins and install it fresh.
Yes removing stuff without backups killed any chances of old stuff being kept.

I do have a database backup from January. Is there any way from me to make another database to upload that to so I could possible take the templates I need from there? Or is there no real way to take templates from one database and move it to another?
I would have just reverted to the backup in the first place but my members have been very active this summer so I would loose a lot of forum topics and posts.

You cant take what you need from one or another you would need to have a complete backup and properly upgrade to be able to get the photos back.
