No images afer server move

I moved my forum from one dedicated server to anoter. I of course did a dump of the forum database as well as tarred the gallery directory.

I loved all files to the new server, have the forums up and running but after untarring the gallery directory, I have a blank gallery.

Any suggestions?

Did you import the vbgallery database?

Are the pages completely blank? Or just a blank gallery?

I did a mysqldump on the forum database that came out to oh about 800 megs of sql dump. I then did a tar -cvf on both the fourm folder as well as the gallery folder.

I then transfered three files to the new server 1. forum.tar 2. gallery.tar and 3. the my.sql dump file for the forum database which also includes the gallery tables.

I untared the forums.tar in the forums director on the new server, untared the gallery.tar to the gallery folder on the new server then I used mysql to upload the my.sql database backup to the new database on the new server.

After a little working on the forums they are up and running with no problem, but the gallery is showing a default install with no catagories or folders or images, just a plain old stock install.

Sounds like your gallery.tar didn't import into the database.

Check myphpadmin to see if they made it at all. That's where I'd check.

You will need to update Paths, URL'S in ADMINCP setting of the gallery to reflect you new server settings.

Also, edit:
/gallery/gallery_config.php and tell it where your new forum PATH is.

I believe I lost a bit of data from the ppgal tables in the database.

I do have another database backed up that does have the tables, can I export those tables from the older database and place them in the newer database and salvage as many pictures as I can.

The tar file was over 1 gig that's a schnitt load of pictures to loose by starting all over.

Another possible option I have, I also own a license for photopost pro, is it possible to import those images and database tables from the 'other' database?

I guess there is no solution to this problem other then to move over to the supported vBulletin 3.70 photo album system.

A dump from 1 site to another is very simple.
- the PATH to the forum must be updated. (/gallery/gallery_config.php)

AdminCP => vBGallery => Modify Settings
- Title, URL's, & Paths
-- Files Path ( also chmod -R 0777)
-- FTP User Folder Path (also chmod -R 0777)

The backup and restore may have also changed ownership of the files/folders you un-TAR from your old web user to "root" (99). You may have to claim ownership of files and folders.

Dumping and taring were no problem. The corrupt ppgal_ tables where.

Luckily I had an older database where I could dump the ppgal_tables and restore them to the new database losing a small quanity of images rather then starting from scratch.

With over 1 gig of stored images, I would have had a global riot sitution had I not have been able to bring something back.

I also had to reclaim ownership of the folders and files, -tar only peserves the folder and file permissions.

Thanks.

I am sure that many images was a pain to say the least there.
