Installing problems - XML Error: unknown at Line 0

I am installing the latest VB Gallery version with vBulletin 3.6.8 patch 2. The first part of the install seemed to go fine, it inserted tables etc. However I get the "XML Error: unknown at Line 0" message immediately after I click the "Import" button.

When I ASCII transfer the XML file the FTP program says that the XML appears to be a Binary file...

When looking at the site directory it says:
The ... Forum database has encountered a problem.


Can you help me?

The XML file needs to be uploaded in ASCII format.

i did this and now i'm getting all data errors after changing it to ASCII uploading. i refreshed and data errors.

so, what do i need to do? my forums are no longer working either.

What errors are you getting? (when and where)
- what was done on your site upgrade wise ? (forums, vbgallery, ect)
