Arrow Problem Uploading Pics.

This upload problem just happened out of nowhere. I have not made any upgrades at all - and just yesterday when attempting to upload a pic - I get this message:

"No Image specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator" (for Internet Explorer)

For Firefox, I get this message:

"An error occurred while attempting to create a folder for your files. If the problem persists, please notify the webmaster."

Please assist. (running PhotoPost vBGallery v2.3)

Please ensure in your gallery options in vb admin the urls and server paths to the files and user directories under vbgallery are correct. Then ftp to your server and ensure both of those directories are 777 permissions which are read write execute.

Thumbs up

Thanks Chuck,

My files and user directories are 755 permissions - when changed to 777 nothing happened - same problem.

So, I also chmoded my "upload" folder (where uploaded images are stored) from 755 to 777 and it now works.

Thanks for you help.

upload folder? I guess you specified a different upload folder than the program installs in your option then. Glad you got it as there is no upload folder in photopost vbgallery.

I just moved to a new server. It turns out that I am no longer running phpsuexec and therefore I am now into the world of chmod 777. I was always wondering why you guys were so direct about using 777 for the folders. Now I know.

By the way, among other things, the running of the php scripts under Apache instead of CGI cut my server load to 1/4 of what it was previously.

Now I have to cope with my system email going out as "nobody" and getting dumped into spam folders. Why do we subject ourselves to all this stuff?

blkatt, you need to CHMOD -R recursive and all sub folders.

I had someone that moved their web site from one server to another. During the move their gallery's upload folder and sub folders changed ownership and CHMOD went to 644. I needed a recursive FTP client to CHMOD 1000's of sub folders with about 300,000 files from 644 to 777. WinSCP worked for me.
