permissions and uploading problem

I've search the forums, searched the web. finding a few things that relate but give no answers. so, was hoping I could get a little help from you guys.

so photopost vbGallery is installed on my forums went through the install just how it said.

however I cannot upload any images.

I'm on a dedicated server with godaddy.... godaddy wont help.
I have plesk control panel and I've been looking at the file manager and what not and all the files in the gallery > FILES folder are set to 777.

In vbGallery I have set the .htaccess on. for the hotlinking

also online I saw something about putting in some code for umask. I don't know what type of code that would be or where to find/put it.

anyways thats all the info i can think of.. but yeah my question is.

can anyone point me in the direction of a post that has the infomation I need?
or can anyone help me out with this problem?
