Member Uploads being shown under "Unregistered"

I've been running VBGallery for a little over a month and I'm having a problem.

I have a couple categories for my members to post pictures in. Since it's an automotive forum they can post pictures in categories like "Engine Pics" "Car Pics", "Interior Pics" etc. along with those I have "Member's Pictures" category. When a member uploads a picture to, let's say, "Car Pics" it is also creating a sub-category under "Member's Pictures" but as "Unregistered" instead of the member's name. I can't access this sub-category "Unregistered". It worked for a couple members, then it suddently started doing this.

You can view the gallery at http://www.turbo-owners.com/gallery to see for yourself what is happening. If you could help me resolve this problem, or explain why it is doing this it would be appreciated.

Well, I don't know if this makes a difference or maybe it was how I set up vbgallery.

1: All of the categories listed, are sub-categories to the "Member's Galleries" which is set to a member's category, and all the sub-categories are not set to member's categories:

Member Galleries (set to member's category)
-Car Photos
-Truck Photos
-Misc vehicle Photos
-Engine Photos
-Interior Photos
-Dyno Sheets/Timeslips

I moved all the groups to their own categories with no sub-categories, and the "Unregistered" category in the Member Galleries is now gone (without having to do the modification you listed).

2: When I was testing and setting up my categories, when I uploaded a picture using my own account into "Car Pictures", it also created a directory within "Member's Galleries" under my account name "JoeThaMan". I thought it was supposed to do that as a feature, until all other images that were uploaded by other members to any of the other categories went into an "Unregistered" category in the "Member's Galleries" category.

3: Only registered users are allowed to upload, unregistered/guests are not allowed to upload to any of the categories.

So, I'm not sure whether it's a feature but it was what I was attempting to do. It would be nice that if any images uploaded to any other category, were also added into the "Member's Galleries" or category that is set to a member's category or maybe a feature to set a category as a "master member's category"

Good find
- no answer of a code fix yet.

I have duplicated the error.

If a category (set to member's category) contains any category that does not belong to a user it will show up as "Unregistered" regardless of the category name.

Category Owner
AdminCP => vBgallery => Add / Edit Category
- User Options
-- Category Owner

There are options that will allow you to create a category.
- Act as Members' Category
- Allow Users to Create Sub-Categories

Any thing uploaded will automatically be placed in a sub-category named after the user who uploaded the file. There will be an option for the user in "My Stuff" drop down called "Category Admin". Here a user can create personal categories that will appear under their username.

The "Master Category" to show all images uploaded is something I plan to work on.

I'm not sure whether you understood so i will clarify. When I was typing the original post and response my wife kept nagging me, so I may confused myself or maybe yourself when I was talking about the "Master Member Category"

This is what I wanted to do.

Create Separate Categories, one being a Member's Category, let's say Categories A through E, with A Being the Member's Gallery/Category

A (Member's Category)
B
C
D
E

If "User 1" Uploaded an image to Category B, and another in C, it would create a "User 1" under Category A with the images that were uploaded to both categories, B, and C.

This is what I was doing when I setup VBGallery:

Let's say my test account is "User X". When I uploaded an image to category B, it did nothing in Category A. Category A was set to a Member's Category, but B, C, and D were not. I then made B, C, D, and E Sub-categories of A. I then uploaded an image as my test account to category B. This then created a "User X" member in Category A.

I thought that making categories B, C, and D, sub-categories of A, would do what I was attempting UNTIL members started uploading images into B-D, and started showing up as "Unregistered" in Category A.

So, that was what I was meaning by a "Member's Category", where members can create any sub-category they wanted, and a "Master Member's Category" that would show ALL of the images they have uploaded in all other categories, and possibly a "Master Category" that would show all images by all members.

Hope that helps.

Well to my understanding this is NOT the way vbgallery works!

Here is my understanding (and the way i have it setup)

You have public categories created by the Admin, where a regged user can upload pics...
They appear in that category only !

You have member category ( the one with A B C D E F G H .. etc..)
if a user uploads to member category, a category with the username will automatically be created.. and the pictures will go there..

Now (if enabled in ACP) a user can create his own categories he can manage.. (sub categories of his member category - the one with his username) he can configure
if only he is allowed to upload there..
or if others can also upload there..
he can password protect those images
he can manage those pictures in his created categories...
etc.. etc..
he becomes sort of mini-admin of the categories he created..

Such a category MUST be assigned to a user..
If the admin "Moves" a public category under a membercategory.. HE MUST assign it to a user.. (if not.. it will appear as "unregistered" - No user => unregistered) because the system cannot guess which member it is (It is that way, thats why its called Member categories.. they belong to 1 member each)

Imagine a "member category" where images go automatically like you want it.. AND the user password protects his category.. then you would have images in public categories that registered users cannot access.. and it would mixup the system.. because it would not know if the picture is password protected or not.. or/and the user would be upset because his secret pictures would suddenly appear in public.. etc.. etc..

Now if you want to see all things a user has uploaded.. there is a link at each picture: "show all of xy pictures" ... that goes to: http://yoursite.com/gallery/browseim...r&imageuser=XX
where XX is the userid of the member..
this will show all categories created by that member and all the images uploaded by that user (in all categories) (at least those that you have permission to view)
(in your case: http://www.turbo-owners.com/gallery/...er&imageuser=2 )

Hope that helps
Luc
