Installation Crashed my forums - Please Help!!

Hi,

I recently purchased PhotoPost Pro and vBGallery (for $129).

I decided to go with vBGallery as the Photo Gallery software for my forums because it seems to have a tighter integration with vBulletin. Pro seems to be a standalone app made to work with vBulletin and I didn't want my users to have to deal with two profiles.

Anyway, vBGallery seems to be a sweet piece of software if I could only get it running on my forums.

I've been trying to install this all afternoon and it's driving me nuts!

The first time I tried to install it, I was following the installation directions from the installation link next to the product download link. Halfway through the installation, my forums went totally blank. I couldn't go anywhere at all, not even to the vbgallery_install.php file to uninstall it.

After I checked out the readme.html file that came with the product, I found out that there were quite a few files missing that I needed to upload so I did that. That allowed me to at least bring the vbgallery_install.php file up so that I could try and uninstall it, which I did.

This is where it gets weird and hopefully where someone can help me out. I was able to successfully install vBGallery this time and set the title of my Gallery, the paths and everything. Then, it brought me to my Admin panel (thought I was in the clear). I went to my forums to check out the gallery, then all of a sudden the pages just crashed. I mean CRASHED.

No pages are loading up at all. They just keep loading and finally after about ten minutes I get this error:

Quote:
CGI Timeout
The specified CGI application exceeded the allowed time for processing. The server has deleted the process.
I searched around in the forums here and I found somewhere that I was supposed to upload everything in the folders "/forums" and "/gallery", which no where in either the installation link, nor the readme.html file it mentions this. I took one last try and removed all of the files associated with vBGallery and re-uploaded everything.

Could someone please help me out so that I can get my forums back up and running?

OK, I got my database back up. Now my forum looks like crap though. There is a ton of images missing, and some text is out of whack. Yes, I corrected the image paths during installation.

Any ideas? I'm ready to scrap this whole plugin and demand my money back with the experience that I've had. I haven't had this much problem with any plugin for vBulletin before.

In the script folder there are 2 folders.
- forums
- gallery

The content of the forums folder is uploaded to the root of your vBulletin install. The file structure of the upload will coincide with the vBulletin folder layout.

The gallery folder must also stay in tact, but can be placed in many places.

EX:
1)
http://www.domain.com <- vBulletin root
http://www.domain.com/gallery
http://gallery.domain.com

2)
http://www.domain.com
http://www.domain.com/forums <- vBulletin root
http://www.domain.com/forums/gallery
http://www.domain.com/gallery
http://gallery.domain.com

Now you can also change the /gallery/ name it could rename to /photos/ , but would best be done before install.

There should not be a reason the package hanging on install.
- shoot me some ftp / AdminCP access via PM I'll see whats up ill be happy to take a look.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I actually got all of the images back up with no problem. Somehow, the image locations were changed from what I originally entered when I installed the app. Probably from me removing and replacing files.

Anyways, the only problem that I'm having now is that the gallery itself won't show up. It showed up fine right before my db crashed...

EDIT: How is the Files Path supposed to be formatted. I've tried both a direct path to the folder (E:\\_WebSites\\mysite\\httpdocs\\gallery\\files) and I've also tried the way that the example says (/_WebSites/mysite/httpdocs/gallery/files) and neither one did anything. Does this setting even have anything to do with my gallery not coming up?

It looks like you on a windows box ?
And your sites are hosted on E: ?

e:/_WebSites/mysite/httpdocs/gallery/files

I have apache on a windows box here @ home and sites also hosted on the same c: drive.

/www/368p1/gallery/files

also make sure you rename:
/gallery/gallery_config.php.new => /gallery/gallery_config.php

// Enter the full path to your forum here

I'm not too sure what you're asking me to do here Zachariah

Anyways, I realized what had happened once you told me to make sure the path was entered correctly.

When my database crashed before, at first I had no idea what had happened, so I tried replacing VBGallery files thinking there might have been a corrupted file somewhere.

Now, once you had me open up gallery_config.php, I realized that this was an older copy of the file. It had a trailing slash at the end of the path. I took that slash off and everything is working great now

Thanks for your help!
