File uploading problems

Anyone know why I get this error message?.

Depending on the user, they'll either be able to upload fine or not upload with one of two of the following error msgs.

Quote:
An error occurred while attempting to create a folder for your files. If the problem persists, please notify the webmaster
Quote:
No Image specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator.
I've checked all permissions and they are 777. What else can I look for?

Is your server running in safe mode?
If so, you must activate the safe mode bypass.

Please note that this should only be done on a fresh installation!
Oterwise you might have to manually move files around.

Nope. Not running in safe mode. Switching the system still caused the No image Specified error. That and having thousands of image files in a single folder causes the server to barf.

If you moved your server and re-uploaded your file structure.
You need to recursively CHMOD all sub-folders.

There are a few FTP programs that will do this. You can use a trial version of SmartFTP.

Nope. No server move. You looked at this a couple months back Zach and couldn't solve it... but well, the problem seems to be worse now. Wat does make sense is that it only affects some users.

Are the problem users in a secondary group under a parent group with different setting ?

How is your usergroup tree constructed out ?

- parent usergroup
- - Child 1
- - Child 2

or:

- usergroup
- usergroup
- usergroup
