Arrow Hey new vBGallery users: How long did it take you to install vBGallery?

Not including the time to upload the files, how long did it take you to install vBGallery for the first time?

Hey you know this program inside and out--you could install it with your eyes closed.

I'm looking for install times from other newbies.

Even my wife would need only 2 or 3 Minutes for installing it... it's really easy.

Installing it was easy, it's the issues afterwards.

5 minutes to install, 3 long days to set up. Biggest problem was getting the syntax worked out for the wrong path issues created by not understanding my own server setup and path nomenclature as it relates to files and users.

After much reading in the forums and finding may request for help about folks who could not upload or do not have permission messages, I final got it all figured out.

It would have been less than 2 hours to install if I had been able to put in the URL/gallery/files rather than /home/yyyyy/public_html/xxxxxx/gallery/files (yyyy=account name and xxxxx is the name of my subdomain).

Very fustrating experience. Now however, everything is working fine and I'm pleased with the product but not the install process.

Just as an FYI, the URL path of the path wouldn't work because we have to move files within the file system (from the tmp directory into the filesystem); as such, URLs don't work. It's an annoying aspect and covers the majority of our installation problems, but we do try to figure out as much of what we can as possible.

Thank You Micheal for the FYI. I understand the issue.

Doesn't make it any easier for new buyers though. I at one point was so fustrated I considered going in another direction. I'm glad I hung in there but it does make me wonder if others get into the position of feeling that way to and do go another route.

I think a review of the readme file included in the download and perhaps some better way of explaining the whole file path issue, what to expect in the form of error messages, should the various paths or permissions be setup wrong, would help speed up the whole thing and might help.

Just my experience and observation.

5 minutes or so to get the script uploaded and working. Configuration is another thing but then there are quite a few things you can tinker with.

peace . . .
