Installation Results not what I expected

I have installed and re-installed photopost VBGallery three times. Each time the installation goes without a hitch (except for red-exes on the icons and smilies list). I have followed the instructions, and I have installed this product before when it was a VBadvanced product.
The results are not favorable:

During the install, the smilies, and icons do not show up, just two columns of red-exes. Regardless of what I enter for an address (and that is a lot of addresses to change) no graphics pop in.

The main page of Gallery is riddled with missing graphics, and the links to "register, FAQ, Member's List, Calendar, etc... " all try to take me to the /gallery/register.php, /gallery/faq.php, etc... " (those programs are not in Gallery, they are in Forums..

When I try to login, I get a "No input file specified"

I haven't a clue what is wrong. I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything wrong and did not deviate from the installation instructions one bit.

Is there anyone here who might shed some light on what might be wrong with my installation?

Edward

For the links... Go ACP => Gallery => Modify Settings and check NavBar Replacements & Header Replacements & Footer Replacements. By default the Gallery installation should've prepopulated the NavBar replacements; based upon your style (for example, if your style has it's navbar options in the header instead of the usual navbar template) you may then need to copy & paste the values from NavBar Replacements to Header Replacements and if you have any of those link in your footer then you'll want to copy & paste them to the Footer Replacements as well.

For the graphics... during the installation it should've stepped you through each of your smilies & images paths and, when possible, try to update them automatically. For items that it can not calculate they will need to be modified manually. Before doing them manually try rerunning the vbagallery_install.php file and choose the option to "Update your image paths" to see if the program can calculate them for you. The ones that can be calculated will be updated and those that it can not calculate will be highlighted in red.
