Display row of recent/random images on VB forum

I have my gallery set up at /photopost and the database for photopost is seperate from my vBulletin database. Both are integrated - sharing the same users.

Anyway, I'd like to display a row of photos on my vBulletin forums - as I think this would drive people over the photo gallery portion of the site. How do I set it up so that I can display either recent photos or ideally photos from a particular category. I'm running a photo contest, so it'd make sense to display recent photos from that gallery.

Is it true that it doesn't work with Photopost, but only with vba Gallery?

I'm confused? I'm running Photopost and vB 3.5.1. Is there a solution for this?
