Uploading Issue

I am running the latest vB 3.5 RC3 and latest gallery and I have a issue of uploading images. I get the following message after filling out the form and submiting the upload.

An error occurred while attempting to create a folder for your files. If the problem persists, please notify the webmaster

I checked the permission of files and users both are 777 so I know they are good. Is there anything I may have over looked in trying to resolve this issue.

Re: Uploading Issue

As long as you have the files directory set to 777, and you have the correct full files path in the Gallery Admin, it should work...

Re: Uploading Issue

okay I have resolved this issue for the gallery script doesn't seem to like directories other then /home for the path because for some reason my site is stored in /var but I put a symbollic link which fix it. Well at least that is all I did and it works; thanks for all your help.

Re: Uploading Issue

it shouldnt make any difference.. but it could be that php activates safe-mode ifits not in the home dir... I had that error also. but for different reasons...

it occured when I enable safemode... after having it disabled...
it will then try to access files that it does not own.. ex: it will try to create a directory but safemode will not let it do so.. even if the folder is 0777... (bedause the folder was set to 777 by the script and not by root..)
it worked again when I did chown -r on the whole directory AND set to safe mode file storage system in the admincp

May I ask where did you changed the File storage System ? I'm currently using Photopost 5.2 -installed it today- and cannot bypass the safe-mode on yet :/

This discussion is about vBGallery, not PhotoPost, so the procedure will be different. Try asking in the PhotoPost help forum.

PhotoPost is not compatible with safe mode on and is noted in the PhotoPost requirements.
