Bulk Upload Problems

Hello,

i got some upload problems with my buld upload.
Some of my pictures are not accepted ..

I cant find out why

I have about 120 jpg pictures with about max. 130kb
When i bulk upload them just 65 pictures get into the gallery
When i upload some of the lost ones alone they are getting online.

I put the php.ini setting on an higher level for the post and memory size. But that wont help

Anyone got an idea ?

thanks
rob

Re: Bulk Upload Problems

Is it giving you an error when trying to upload?

Question, how many images are you trying to process at a time?

I bulk uploaded 512 pictures yesterday. And I noticed I can only seem to process about 25 photos at a time, other wise my server timed out and I got a blank screen and photos would disappear.

Re: Bulk Upload Problems

there is no error ...
thats why i dont understand it ...

I tried it with 25 pictures in one time ..
My Server must be ok with it, im on a dedicated machine with enough ressources.

##### HÄ ??
now it works ...
I just wanted to test it again to make the reply for that post and now it works ...

There also was that error msg i have not seen before ...
"46-Me_616104.jpg" "You wanted to upload an not allowed image (or something like that ... i translated it from german )
"the allowed images are:" ..... (but the allowed formats does not show up, thats also strange)

I havent changed anything after the post ...

I will make further tests ...

Re: Bulk Upload Problems

Sounds like some of the files have different extension from what the actual format is. For example, if you have a ZIP file named "abc.zip" and rename it to "abc.jpg" then it'll be rejected (vBa Gallery is smart enough to recognize the file type versus it's extension).

Would it be possible to get a copy of one of the files that it's failing on?

i dont think thats this is the problem.
because the same pictures were running fine after some hours, as i wrote brfore. Also the single upload of the pictures were running fine.
I thought it might be the filename because of _ character... (but that is not) ...

Re: Bulk Upload Problems

In the past I've experienced problems with filenames containing quotes and ampersands in them but never underscores.

Could you cut & paste the exact error you're getting?

Re: Bulk Upload Problems

ok i make further tests ...

  1. When i upload 15images per upload 90 shown up correct of 94 images

(2 error msg of this "not the right image format", but the two pics are shown right and 2 without thumnails)
  2. When i upload 20images per upload after the second site no thumbnails are shown and when i look in the category there only 32 of 90 images
  3. When i upload 100images at one time, no image is shown after finsih upload, although there is no error msg oder time out.
PHPs max. post 16M
PHPs memory limit 32M
PHP script time limit 60 seconds
GD2

I put in attachment one file that wont upload with the 15 images upload ...
I also found out that it has nothing to with the images name ... the underscores are coming from the bulk upload script ... there are long numbers behind the filenames during the buld upload process
Attached Images
File Type: jpg holu.jpg (44.6 KB, 9 views)

Re: Bulk Upload Problems

So on more thing to go
I hope this helps...

I set my server to a very high lvl of resources but there are still the same problems.
64MB, 120 script time ...

I tried again with about 200 images ...
I bulk upload 100 images, all are shown up correctly on the first site. I look up on ftp and 100 thumbs are generated in the main file dir.
I go on with the process and on the second site "no images to display".
On the ftp dir. there are only 63 thumbs of 100 left ????
And the others are gone and nothing in the category dir ...

that is very strange ...
same problems i got also with lower images per session ..(5)
Here comes the second and third pages, but always without the thumbs. And after finish there i nothing shown up in the dir.

I tested the thumbnailer with my old 4images and its working perfect with the gd2 ..
So there have to be something wrong with the gallery ... or with me

Rob

Re: Bulk Upload Problems

I've tried a few things, but I can't seem to reproduce any problems like you are describing. If you'd like to submit a support ticket though I'll be glad to take a look.
