Question Subcats / Depth of Categories Problem

Hi Brian and vba Team,

I have an issue with my subcategory display options. I want to stop displaying subcategories below the child categories, after clicking on a category header. Basically just like setting the 'Depth of Forums - Forum Display' (forumdisplay.php) to '1' in vBulletin. For example, here is my main index page (exactly as I want it, complete with subcat folder option enabled):
http://gallery.omnibilia.com/index.php

However, when I click on the 'Media Center' category header, I get this:
http://gallery.omnibilia.com/index.php?c=1...

'Images' is the subcategory which I DO NOT want to be visible here, only when I click on 'Omnibilia Uplooads' (which works fine: http://gallery.omnibilia.com/browseimages.php?c=2).

Please can you offer a solution?

Many thanks,

Rob.

Re: Subcats / Depth of Categories Problem

Admin CP => vBa Gallery => Modify Settings => Categorybit Options => Depth of Categories

Have you tried changing that option?

Re: Subcats / Depth of Categories Problem

Hi Brian,

Yes, I have this set to '1'. I originally thought the same, but this setting only effects the appearance in the child category, as follows:
http://gallery.omnibilia.com/browseimages.php?c=2

For example, setting 'Depth of Categories' to '0' makes the subcategory 'Images' disappear in the above link, but it has no effect whatsoever on the 'problem' section (in fact nothing does):
http://gallery.omnibilia.com/index.php?c=1

Another conundrum for you. Thank you for your help, as always!

Re: Subcats / Depth of Categories Problem

Hi Brian,

Something very weird is happening. I moved a few categories around and added a couple of subcategories and the 'Images' subcat that I referred to in the last message has now miraculously disappeared from here:
http://gallery.omnibilia.com/index.php?c=1

However, it is still a subcategory, as you see from the gallery home and here:
http://gallery.omnibilia.com/browseimages.php?c=2

You'll also notice that 'Audio/Music' and 'Video' are two subcategories I have added and they ARE still showing up where they are not supposed to. Why have they not become invisible like 'Images' I wonder.

From this I would at least deduce that your code is supposed to make these invisible when the 'Depth of Categories' is set to '1', as I have it. I would suggest that there is a glitch somewhere, perhaps a bug to be addressed.

I know you're busy, but I wondered if you have had a chance to consider this issue. I just need everything to work as it is (subcats showing on gallery home and in the child categories), but stop the subcats from displaying here (as 'Images' somehow already has):
http://gallery.omnibilia.com/index.php?c=1

Many thanks,

Rob.

Would you mind just submitting a support ticket so I can have a look at things?
