Image quality after watermark

I am upgraded to Gallery 1.0 but I am still having problems with the image quality after Watermarking. I have the Original images set to Not save. And I still can not find how to control the quality of the images the gallery saves after applying the tiny PNG watermark.

IT takes a 66k file and makes it 24k with very VERy noticable artifacts. If the file has text in it in the JPG, it's unreadable.

Can anyone help? I have tried the method in this thread below, but it does not work, I can not find the functions in the last post. I guess the 1.0 is very different than the RC3 or RC4 were.

Re: Image quality after watermark

Try looking for this code:
Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
Replace with this:
Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
And see if that makes any difference. Another solution may also be to switch to ImageMagick as your resizing program as well.

brian, re: switch, do I have to ask the server people? Is it usually installed on the servers?

Re: Image quality after watermark

It depends on the server. If you want to try it out real quick, switch the resizing program option to IM, then try these for your 'Resize Program Path' option:
/usr/bin/
/usr/local/bin

Those are just the most common locations. If they don't work then I would contact your host and ask them if they have IM installed, what the path is, and if they don't if they could install it for you. Most good hosting companies will not have a problem with installing IM.
