Change File Storage Method??

Quote:
Change File Storage Method
This tool will allow you to change the way your files are stored. If your server is running in safe mode, you may use this tool to change the way your files are stored.

Click the 'Change File Storage Method' button below to turn the safemode bypass On.

Anyone have any idea what this does?

I um was playing with buttons and kind moved some files. only thing is I have no idea where they went or how to get them back.

I stopped it about 70 pics into it

I thought it would give me a option on where to move them.

Any help would be appriciated.
Thanks

Re: Change File Storage Method??

That's only if your server is running in Safe Mode. Otherwise, you don't need to mess with that option.

How exactly did you "move" the files? Did you by chance change the userid or anything else manually through the database?

Re: Change File Storage Method??

My admin did the same thing ... all "x's" now... help!
(Change File Storage) My server is NOT running in safe mode, BTW.

Example; /public_html/gallery/files/1/6/1/1/9 ? That happens to be my user number (16119)

Tried to copy all images beginning in my user number to /public_html/gallery/files/1/6/1/1/9 ... still no go. All images are in the files directory now, NOT in the subdirectories.

Help!

Re: Change File Storage Method??

Seems the file names have changed?

Looking at the link for an image in the gallery, showing something like:

19688-19688-19688-papacanfly.jpg

Looking in the files dir, that image is: 19688-papacanfly.jpg

Seems to me that safe mode bypass button either needs to be removed or big warnings added?

Seems to me you should do a little research before you push buttons... I learned a similar lesson before..

Re: Change File Storage Method??

You should be able to click the same button to move the files back into the regular storage method.

Re: Change File Storage Method??

Theres a reason its hidden there and not some standard option. Its only there for the users who are running in safemode and need that option.

I believe brian should be able to fix it

Re: Change File Storage Method??

Yeah Brian, tried that ... it doesn't reverse the process, seems to add to the file name and NOT move it back into the member directories.

sooo.... because there were only 200 in there so far (I lost 4,800 images moving from PPPro), I just deleted all the thumbs, made user dirs, copied the images over, allowed upload from server and had the members go thru them all.

Live and learn.

Obviously, I'll be removing the safe mode bypass button from admin.

Re: Change File Storage Method??

Yeah, this killed me too, I uploaded my first batch, worked fine, then when I do anything in the vbag admin cp, it changes it's back to safemode off (I run in safe mode), then bam, all my images are dead!

Don't know if that is the solution to this problem, as when you change something it seems to trigger it to change to safemode off, I don't know if having the button there will stop this as wouldn't it be happening behind the scenes as a part of a function that runs when you do a certain thing. I've found, if I'm in safe mode, and I change anything in the vbag options, it changes it back to unsafe mode, and kills all my images! So, I got the setting like I wanted them, and now, I just have to avoid logging into my admin cp... ever again! Or atleast until this get's closer to a final version and doesn't have weird bugs! Apart from that, best thing I've purchased this week!

Still sorting
