Exclamation Parse error on install....need help!

Hi - just bought the script today and having trouble installing. Tried it in my test environment first (local XP box with Apache), but was getting this error message. So then I switched to my actual hosting account on Linux and have followed the install instructions to the tee both times, but still keep getting this when trying to run the initial admincp/vbagallery_install.php script as in Step 4.

Quote:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ')' in /home/myforum/admincp/vbagallery_install.php on line 1511
In both environments it's the exact same error (....on line 1511) - what am I doing wrong?!?! It's RC3 with vB 3.07.

Thanks in advance.

Are you sure the file was completely uploaded and uploaded in ASII mode? I can't think of any other reason why you would get a parse error there.

AFAIK, i read another thread where you were using shorttags (<?) in the script instead of <?php.which may be causing the issue.

Re: Parse error on install....need help!

The gallery install file doesn't switch between PHP and HTML and the line in the error is part of the template array, so that shouldn't be the case.

Re: Parse error on install....need help!

Hi - it was my bad....I had also purchased the branding free option - I must have incorrectly removed one of the lines referring to the copyright notice. I started over with a fresh copy of 'vbagallery_install.php' and carefully removed the appropriate lines and now everything is good to go.

Is there a 'readme' or similar that states what exactly which lines to remove when branding-free is purchased? I couldn't find anything, so just went hunting on my own, which is where I initially ran into this problem.

Thanks!

Re: Parse error on install....need help!

It's generally removed from either the adv_gallery_footer template, or just from the phrase.
