missing thumbnails on upload
 

Hey,

so I'm doing a mass upload. Its working for the most part fine. But I'm only getting the thumbnail created on the first file in the upload. I've got the files in the directory, it's reading the files just fine but no matter if it's 5, 20 or 100 pics at a time, only the first one gets a thumbnail.

I see that back in december someone else had this problem but I didn't see a similar issue nor did I see a resolution other than rebuilding the thumbs which isn't optimal since I'm in the process of uploading 15k+ images and 5k+ movies. Essh...the CPU time and I/O thrash to make all those thumbs.

Any clues or suggestions?

ok, after accepting, all the thumbs were created EXCEPT for the .gifs. All the jpgs had their thumbs created but none of the gifs did. So I'm thinking this is a GD problem. I'm running GD 2.0.12 and prior to this, no problems but...you never know.

ok, I went to rebuild the thumbs and nothing. I look at the physical directory and nothing, there isn't a thumb*.gif for any of the .gif files. If I click on the red x, I get the image fine so you can completely view it. Just no thumbnail.

I also tried to upload it as a single image via the interface's upload utility. Same result. Image is there, box created for it, stats are correct but no thumbnail.

I have a clean install of RC3, no modification to Gallery itself. I know I have GD 2.0.12 running. I'll shut up now and let someone else reply. Sorry to spam. Again, jpgs are working just fine.

For the broken images that appear when you're on the approval page after an upload, please try the fix posted in this thread:

It should show the /gallery/images/files_gif.gif image when there is not a thumbnail, so there shouldn't be any reason why you would get a broken thumbnail for those. If you'd like to submit a support ticket though I'll be glad to take a look and see what's causing that.

hey Brian, I'm about to hop on a plane to Mexico City for work this week. When I land I'll create you an admin account and ftp account so you can log in but if I understand you, we won't get gif thumbs from pictures but instead a generic gif like is used for mpgs and avis?

Unless you use ImageMagick, or your version of GD has support for gif images, yes.

I got this working BTW which is why I never sent in a ticket request. I had 2 versions of GD installed on my host so I removed the old version and now I'm getting gif thumbnails. Then again, I just installed ImageMagick 6.2.0.3 and am much happier w/ that.
