Uploading MPEG

Hey everyone, I was attempting to upload an .mpeg file, however, I get the error that it is not an approved filetype...odd thing is that it is an approved file type??? Is it possible that it thinks that it is a different format?

Thanks for your time!

What's the exact error it's giving you?

It gives the error that it is not an approved file type...funny thing is it shows as an mpeg on the desktop, however, the gallery is seeing it as an mpe???

Rename it to .MPG, or add .MPE to the types, and see if it'll go.

For any file that's not an image, the only thing it can go by is the extension, so you'll need to add mpe to the allowed extensions.

Ok that is what I was just going to do...

Any change someone would be nice enough to make a MPE image like the others (mpeg, avi, etc)

Re: Uploading MPEG

MPE is the same as MPEG, so just copy/rename the one for MPEG. It's still an MPEG video... ;)

Just out of curiosity..... do you guys know what is producing the files with an MPE extension? I'm used to the MPG extension in the Windows world and in recent years (with Win2K and WinXP being a bit more friendly to the non-8.3 file names) MPEG but have recently starting seeing a bunch of files with the MPE extension.

Are these coming from Mac, Linux or something else or is it just a by product of the fact that Win2K and WinXP still have 8.3 file names for compatibility?

In your screen shot above the file's Description field ("Thank you") is showing up under the file image instead of below with the rest of the fields. That's an RC2 thing. In RC3 the Description field is now grouped with the rest of the fields. :) Unless you've done modifications to your Gallery templates then you may want to revert them to pick up the RC3 versions.

The only thing I edited was I moved the group of newest images to the top. Ok, I reverted the templates and same thing.

And no, that image is not there. I opened the zip of rc3 and it isnt there either..
