| Split vBgallery/vBulletin to separate servers
Is there a way to split vBgallery from vBulletin and have them run on different servers/locations, still talking to each other?
The reason Im asking is my host has PHP safe mode ON which prevents the use of vBgallery on my main webserver. I understand this is a long shot, and a probable no but I need to ask. Any1?

Possible? Sure, bit of a pain but it is possible, at least if I am understanding correct.
I would prefer not to diclose anything publicly at this point for a few reasons.
Do you already have both servers setup?

Wouldn't it be simpler to move to another host? =)

Zachery> No I havent made any arrangements towards that yet, and Im going to wait a bit longer. I have a ticket Brian is looking into atm. Depending on outcome I may go ahead. Ill let you know.
rbl> Yeah I agree, that would be easier, but Im that stubborn kinda person that really wants to see things through. have to admit though that my skills could be better, but hey thats why im writing. I just cant accept the fact that theres no obvious work-around safe mode=On in regards of vBgallery. I hate bumbing into walls. |

Possible but probably with serious limitations, no?
Maybe Brian can give us the scoop! =)

As far as I can tell, no limitations. The gallery is here: http://storsloken.se/forums/gallery/
I havent gone public with it yet, have to fix some of the links and other stuff first, but if you want a preview of the functionality rbl.. be my guest.
My PHP info:
safe_mode On On
safe_mode_exec_dir no value no value
safe_mode_gid On On
safe_mode_include_dir no value no value

The main limitation of safe mode that was preventing the gallery from being able to run is that it cannot create a new folder and then upload an image to that folder. You can, however, still upload images to an existing folder. I just made a few changes to the files so that the images will be uploaded to the /gallery/files folder and just prefixed with the userid.

Has anybody managed to get this working? I'd like to store my images on a different server to vBulletin but can't find any relevant threads anywhere - has it been done?
Perhaps somebody could point me in the right direction as to which files to modify?
Thanks in advance,
Pete.

Since I got vBulletin/vBadvanced CMPS/vBgallery to work together - despite the safe_mode issue on my host, at least I havent pursued this any further. GL though!

I haven't really taken the time to research this much yet, though I wouldn't imagine that it would be *that* hard to do if you know a little about PHP.
