Max categories not working ..

I've setup my forum so that the normal registered usergroup can not create a category .. and I have a "gallery" usergroup which I will give to certain people as an Additional Usergroup ..

Within the Gallery usergroup permissions for the "Gallery" usergroup I'm setting "Can create categories" to YES and "Maximum Number of Categories" to 1 .. therefore allowing the "Gallery" usergroup to create one category within the Members Album (That's the only category they can create one in) ..

However .. on testing it .. it seems that a person with the "Gallery" additional usergroup can create unlimited categories within the members album ..

It seems that the "Maximum Number of Categories" makes no difference .. whatever you put in it .. it will give unlimited as if you've put a 0 in the box ..

Am I missing something .. or is it a bug?

Re: Max categories not working ..

I think that was a long winded way of saying "Maximum Number of Categories" doesn't work ..

Re: Max categories not working ..

It seems that it will still let you go to the page to fill in the information for the category (which it shouldn't let you go that far), but when you try to add the category it will tell you that you have reached the max. Does this seem to be the case for you, or does it let them add the category? Just trying to make sure so I can give you the correct fix.

Ok .. when it says unlimited it seems it means unlimited ..

I've got it set for 1 .. yet it seems I can create as many as I like ..

What are the Gallery permissions for the normal registered usergroup?

In the meanwhile, you can try to set a test member with gallery as primary usergroup and see if the behavior is different.

Re: Max categories not working ..

Right .. I'm getting what Brian described if I make my test users Primary Usergroup the "Gallery" usergroup ..

So it's when the "Gallery" usergroup is a secondary user group that it becomes unlimited ..

Re: Max categories not working ..

Ahh .. sort of sussed it ..

I've now set the registered users "Maximum Number of Categories" to 1 instead of 0 and that seems to of done the trick, while leaving their "Can create categories" at NO ..

Now the "Gallery" usergroup is doing as Brian described even when it is a additional usergroup ..

My bad ..

Re: Max categories not working ..

Can you open your forum/includes/init.php file and search it for 'gallery_maxcats'? If that's not in there then the problem may be related to a missed step during the install (or upgrade to RC2 from RC1 if you had that version). It *should* take the value from the secondary usergroup if things are working correctly and that code is in your init.php file.

Re: Max categories not working ..

Hmmm... So just changing the 'Maximum Number of Categories' option to 1 for your registered group fixed the problem, or did you have 'Can create categories' for your registered group set to 'Yes' before you made the change as well?
