thumbnails and gifs?

Thought it would be better to create a new thread on this than leave it in my other post about uploading issues...

Im having issues with thumbnails being created for animated and non animated gif images. They upload fine, they meet the size requirements, the extention is enabled, and the actual image shows up fine, but there doesnt seem to be a thumbnail being generated - getting the dreaded red x.

Is this a GD thing (not sure if I have imagemagick or not, and not sure how to check - GD works fine in vB for me) or is this something (else! lol) on my end Ive managed to screw up? Since Ive had sleep and was able to find my other PEBKAC error, I am hoping it's not me this time?

Re: thumbnails and gifs?

i do in fact have imagemagick installed (version is 6.0.6 if that matters?) and have changed to that to see if the thumbnail issue was resolved
however, now when i try to upload a test gif (animated or non animated) i getthe following error:

An error occurred while attempting to resize this image. If the problem persists, please notify the webmaster

any idea why?

Having the same problem....

If I try uploading a .bmp or .gif file, the thumbnail shows a red x.....howvere, when you click it it displays the full size image no problem.

Re: thumbnails and gifs?

Sorry I missed this post earlier. I've had a lot going on the last two days and it's been about all I can do to answer questions and try to get the bugs that have appeared so far fixed.
There is a problem where anything besides jpg and png images are appearing as a red x rather than the default thumbnail that is supposed to appear when an image can't be resized. For right now, if you choose the option to rubuild your thumbnails under the Maintenance section of your vBa Gallery options then that should replace the red x's with the default image. If everyone can hang tight until tomorrow then I should be able to release RC2 which will correct this problem and all other bugs that have been reported so far.

nyifan - Please be sure that your 'ImageMagick or NetPBM Path' option is set something like this:
/usr/bin/ (with the trailing slash there)

The lack of the trailing slash at the end seems to be the cause 90% of the time when ImageMagick isn't working properly. If that doesn't help and you'd like to submit a support ticket I'll be glad to have a look and see what the problem is.

Re: thumbnails and gifs?

I figured it got lost in the mix, and i KNOW you have a ton goign on, i wasnt trying to be a PITA, sorry if it seemed that way!!

I will be out most of the day tomorrow, so I have no problem hanging on till RC2 to see if this gets resolved. Thank you for all your efforts, and know they are VERY appreciated. Never have I seen such personal attention paid to users, paid or not, and that in and of itself is invaluable.

I changed back over to GD after trying the trailing slash since the error message above remained. IF I am still having issues after RC2, I will open a ticket and let you have at it (hoping to save you time and effort here)

THANK YOU!
