| Help identify visual components
I am new to vbgallery and the settings but I'm stumped on how to identify some parts so that I can fix them. The first is, where is the setting to alter the mini thumbnails under the site banner.
The second is, where do I go to adjust the spacing of text and photos in the example below because the text is sitting right on top of the pictures and there's a huge gap between the pictures and top of the frame. Code: Content visible to verified customers only.

I tried to post an image showing exactly what I'm talking about but apparently can't because I don't have 15 posts. This is ridiculous. If I'm a verified customer, it's pretty unlikely I paid all this money and entered a very obscure support forum just to spam. Can my settings be changed to allow posting links please?

You can in your forum admin under vbGallery -> Manage Addons alter the stuff displayed on the forum.
There is no usergroup permission that I know of that says a group can or can not post links. That must be some default vb hard coded things as I already noted to you you can type out the url just do not put http:// its is easy enough to do.
You should be able to upload attachments so you could post an image also. I am not sure what spacing your talking about but no doubt your probally talking about custom editing some template or style to achieve the look you want.

No, I mean on this forum. I can't post helpful links to my problems without having made 15 posts first.
I have no problems posting stuff on my own forum of course.

I know what you are saying I am just saying there is no permission on this vb forum that specifically says users can not post without first having 15 posts that I know of.
I already searched before I responded. I searched category, usergroup and even all global permissions for 15 there is no setting. I can only assume that is something hard coded in like I said.
You can surely post an attachment and you can surely type out a link without the http part.

Yes, unfortunately I'm getting a message that I cannot post any links until I have made 15 posts. That's why I was typing htttp with an extra T in the other thread you were helping me with last night, because I can't post any links until I've made 15 posts.
Kinda ridiculous because the only reason anyone would be in this specific forum is because they need help with their PhotoPost product and by not being able to post links to their site, makes it difficult to get help.
I'm getting close so I might rattle off three more worthless posts to get to 15 so I can add a link to my picture in my first post here. I hate doing that though.

I already explained where to set settings for the header block
You can edit the adv_gallery_forumhome template or stylesheet to change any elements of things there.
The problem is on your site is I have no idea what template that image block is it is not the forumblock I am use to seeing.
If I look at our adv_gallery_forumhome template this is what I see in our code source. Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
There must be some special setting to load an alternate layout for that block I am not use to but the style I was looking for is this and to my knowledge this is used by a widget not the normal image block.
ppgGalImageblock you can edit under the stylesheet noted the padding etc or the padding for tcap I beleive it is for that block individual cells. You turned it off so I am just going by memory. Maybe vbgthumb would be the style class to add padding. Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
The widget is coded alot differently than the normal image block that shows there.

You can send us an admin login through the contact us link if you want me to look at how you have things setup.

Uff. Well, I've gone through every part of the settings even before I posted this thread, hence my problem. I don't know what to look for in the settings. I just know there are hundreds of them.
I never messed with templates or stylesheets, just installed vbgallery and was hoping to click a few settings to customize and go from there. Finally got it working last night for the first time, clicked a few things like number of photos displayed and somehow today, they're all bunched up, halfway visible and text right over the middle.
I will gladly send you admin access because after fixing this, I have to figure out why my vba cmps portal is trashed. I know that's not your product and don't expect support for it but it got hosed right after installing vbgallery. Still trying to understand your post about URLs to get it going again. And, it's *not* vbgallery that's at fault. I love it! It's *me* trying to learn everything and no formal training as a programmer.
*Admin login info sent

Always use Forum URL as Base Path?
That in the vb options must be yes when using the portal as it is not in your forum path and that portal is using its own url not the vb to find vb stuff. bug in that portal if you ask me poorly coded.
How does that look? http://gearheadsmiataclub.net/vB/forum.php?tabid=11 |

Wow! The portal is showing up perfectly! Ah, I think I understand about the forum's base path. Thank you very much. Yes, I guess I shouldn't have jumped right into vba cmps when I suppose vbulletin's CMS would do the same thing.
I see you're still working on vbgallery which is probably saving me hours and hours of trial and error...

My suggestion really would be to dump vbGallery and install PhotoPost Pro. I do not know if there is anything I can tell you to help separate those forumblock images in that block. vBulletin 5 is going to be out soon and vbGallery is not going to be continued as a product so really it is not being actively developed like our flagship product Pro.

Hmm, must be pretty bad when the product's own developer can't figure it out.
I don't know what happened. All I did was install gallery and then tried to adjust the number of photos in the forum home main block. It worked great right after install and was stable until I changed the number of photos in the block. I didn't touch any other settings in vb or add any plugins or anything.
I didn't install PhotoPost Pro because the install looked more daunting than I'm able to handle and also that it appears like a separate site that wouldn't look anything like my forum. Would it at least show photos in the main forum block like gallery does? Because really, that's all I bought this for.
It's going to be a looonnnngg time before we even consider vb5. Even when it gets out of beta, there's hardly any development for it like there is for 4 and like others, won't invest in it until a year or two has passed if at all.

Pro works great with the vb forum and has tons more features. here is a look at pro. A community photo gallery - ReefTalk Gallery
To install pro you basically follow the instructions in the downloaded code or listed on this site under support tab.
there has not been a vbgallery release in a couple years.

Wow, that looks really good. I read about both products and thought vbgallery was more appropriate. Now I wonder why it's even around at all.
Okay, I'll install PhotoPost Pro tomorrow. Will you please tell me here, so that I don't waste hours more searching for the answer...do I completely uninstall my vbgallery first and is there any clean up I should do or any little detail I should know before?

Just delete your vbgallery through the install script option and then after that completes simple delete your gallery directory then install Pro.
