| Member Categories layout?
Just wondering if anyone knows how i can go about changing the layout of the member's category.
Currently when people click the 'member's category' link from the gallery index page it shows a list of links to click on to view member's photos.
I would prefer that a page of preview thumbnails are shown instead of a list of links.
It seems that this is done on other forums similar to mine but i've spent the best part of the day trying to work it out and can't work out if my gallery layout is different due to being Vbulletin 4.2?
I basically want it to display as though it's not a category, but i still want the alphabetical search to show up?
Can anyone help me with this please?

can you give me an example of what your talking about? Not too sure what your trying to convey as your members gallery should look like this Members Galleries - ReefTalk Gallery |

Thanks for getting back to me Chuck, the link you posted is basically exactly what i want to display - however mine is displaying a list of members as a sub category instead of showing thumbnails etc.
I'm sure it's a setting i need to change or something but i can't find it - to check out what i'm talking about please visit - www airbrushforum org/gallery and click on 'member's categories'.
You'll also notice my gallery index page shows only 'random' images not 'most recent, most popular and random'.
Thanks for your help

Your using vbgallery not PhotoPost Pro therefore your confined to the way that actual product works. I did not see this thread was vbGallery sorry.

Thanks for the response, Chuck. Is there an easy way you can upgrade/ downgrade to photopost pro? I prefer the layout of photopost pro as it mainly shows thumbnails as opposed to link lists. I have had the gallery active for around 6 months now so i'm not sure if the 2 could be interchanged?
Is there a service you have available which could safely do this?
I didn't realise both products could work with Vbulletin?

That is an upgrade since it has more features. As long as you have a Pro license then you can switch it would take a little work.
Our install service could be used for that.

It says that the photopost Pro and Vbgallery license are the same cost on the products page both $129 - so i'm assuming all i need to do is to buy an upgrade install service?
Or is there an extra charge i need to pay for upgrade to photopost pro?
If i leave a note, will they recognise that i'm after an upgrade to the photopost pro service? or do i need to tell them anything in particular?
i'm happy to pay the upgrade costs, i just want to make sure i'm getting the right thing as i'm assuming you don't personally do the upgrades?
Thanks Chuck i'll move forward with this as soon as it's clear what i need to do |

No this is not an upgrade service. Yes the license is the same unless you purchased a vbgallery only license along time ago.
This would be the 59.00 install service as I need to install pro fresh. Really I am giving you a break and not charging you for the import of vbgallery to pro. Take note if your access to the members area is expired you will need to renew that also.

$59 is fine - i'll check the members area - i think i've only had the software for 6 months so hopefully it's not expired. - no it's not I just checked so i still have access.
Will the existing pictures and content from the VBgallery remain when you install photopost pro afresh? Or will you have to create new tables etc? hope they remain..

yeah if you have only had the license 6 months you have a pro license. You would know if you have a vbgallery only license
The content in vbgallery will remain but it would need to be imported into pro. Once pro is installed and you see the content is fine in Pro you would need to uninstall vbgallery

Hi again Chuck - I've purchased the install for $59 and i left a note there explaining that i have VBgallery installed and that i'd like for Photopost Pro to be installed but to import the existing gallery images.
Could you let me know if the installer will be uninstalling VBgallery as you suggested in post10 of this thread?
Thanks mate, hope you got some rest |

well normally no they would not be uninstalling another product.
Basically to uninstall vbgallery all you need to do is run the install script for that product and then delete your vbgallery directory its easy. basically vbgallery would be uninstalled when you are happy that everything is transferred to Pro.

Thanks for uploading that Chuck and for importing the existing gallery.
Just wondering two things:
in what file will i find where the '$globals' are set? I've stuffed up in the photopost admin panel i started changing directory paths from xxx/photos to xxx/gallery and then changed the directory name in Cpanel but to no success.. however i can't undo the action because the intial form is now being sent to the wrongfully changed 'xxx/gallery' directory - i'm guessing i just need to find where the $globals['maindir'] is initially set and change it temporarily while i fix the file paths in the photopost control panel?
could you tell me in what file the $globals['maindir'] is set?
thanks

well you have something to consider here
You already have a directory named gallery airbrushforum community photo gallery - Airbrushforum Photos
There is a stickied thread in the HOW DO I forum which explains how to move servers or change directory names.
Basically the steps involve you to do several things.
1. turn off any plugins in vbulletin for photopost
2. in your photopost admin panel global options change the server paths and urls to the new ones and save. Once you do this your site will break.
3. ftp to your server and change the directory name to the new name. You then go in there and update the 2 config files for photopost with any new server paths and urls.
4. You should be operational at this point but go to admin of the gallery and under storage options hit revert and save twice to load the new path and urls.
5. If using vbulletin you need to upload the Pro install directory set permissions on the xml files and regenerate the xml product plugin so it can be generated with all the new info. You would then install this into vbulletin product manager making sure to check the overwrite button. Once that is done you can enable the pro plugins again in vb product manager and you should be okay.
I just did all that for you.
