The only way to alert of comments is per email.
besides the comments you have a link: Receive Email Updates

Once this is active you should receive an email if anyone comments the picture.
When it is active the link says: Disable Email Updates

When you upload an image you can check the box: receive email updates and you will then have this on, starting with upload.

In our gallery, when they check the box to Receive Email Updates, they aren't getting the comments emailed to them. I've looked over everything I can think of in both the forum and gallery and it looks like it is set up correctly. Can someone tell me what items for sure affect this and what they need to be set at so that it works?

what product are you using from us? Is PHP mail functional on your server? Do you receive other mailings from your gallery? You have tested this yourself? They have checked there spam filters?

I have Photopost 7.1 I think, if I am looking in the right place. Not sure about PHP mail being functional on my server, I'll check. I have tested myself. If I upload layout without checking the box and then go in and edit photo and tell it to enable email comments, then I do get a comment. BUT, if I upload a layout and check the box to receive email comments while I am uploading, then I don't get emailed comments.

I think I figured it out after I had some people help me some experimenting. We were getting emailed notification if the comment was left in the gallery that was the main gallery uploaded to. If the comments were left in galleries that it was copied to on the 2nd page, then they weren't getting the email notifications. We did find that if you edit photo on those additional galleries and choose to enable comments, you get email notifications for comments left in the copied to categories as well.

That would explain it. the additional cats option creates up to 2 more photos in your database in other categories. If you elect to be notified of comments your only electing notifications on the specific photo your uploading comments and notifications are separate for each photo so sure any copies you would need to tag them separately.
