Mass Deleting Images from Gallery

What is the best way to mass delete images in a gallery? Let's say I have 500 in some category. I suspect if I simply remove the category it would create orphans in the database as opposed to individually deleting each photo which would take forever to do. In AdminCP there is a mass move function but I don't see mass DELETE function, hence my question here about the best way to do it.

What if the category had 1000 images but you only wanted to delete 500 of them so deleting the category wasn't an option?

There needs to be an option created to help do this another way.
- on the to~do list.

I have however created a temp category to hold the trash I mass move to it, then empty the category.
- AdminCP => vBGallery => Mass Move

EX: find all images in category XXX uploaded by user XXXX and move to temp category.

Empty:
-- AdminCP => vBGallery => Edit Categories
--- Drop Down => Empty Category
