Am I just stupid?

Okay everyone,
I used to think I was getting the hang of programming etc, it got to the point where when I started to read files etc I could understand what I was doing etc but after purchasing vBGallery I am beginning to wonder if I am just stupid as nothing makes sense to me.

To give you the brief story - I purchased vBGallery yesterday and recieved my email with download instructions in next to no time (thanks much appreciate that by the way).

I downloaded the product, looked at the file and after making a mistake which temporarily crashed my site this morning actually had it installed and now I am adding photos etc as we continue to re-build and re-brand our website/forums for a brand new re-launch.

My issue is that I run vBAdvanced 3.2.1, along side vBulletin 3.8.4, and obviously the latest available version of vBGallery seem I downloaded it last night.

I have read the mod that zach created and attempted to install it - didn't work on vb3.8.4.

I have read other "create this plugin" and "upload this" and all of those types of threads and haven't been able to get it so that vBGallery is displaying random 4 or 5 images as a module on vBAdvanced.

I have been to vb.org, various admin websites, vbAdvanced (and get the usual use the search tool - only to find posts from 4 years ago talking about 3.5.x), vb.com and now am coming to this site with my head bowed asking someone for a way to get the vBGallery displaying four or five random images on my installation of vBAdvanced on the right hand side.

I would really appreciate something that is known to work on the platforms that I listed above - it is really driving me insane.

Thank you to all in advance - and hopefully one of you can help me so I don't feel so stupid.

well I guess the trick is to find a modification that works. I personally cant suggest anything because I have never ran vbadvanced. vbGallery correctly installs and integrates with vbulletin and displays gallery content in vbulletin which is what is advertised and supported.

Displaying content outside of what is supported is always a hack or mod and all you can do is search vbulletin.org or the mod forums here and see if you find something that works.

I see in the thread you posted in here in the mod forums there is a user that posted it worked perfectly in August so I would think he was using vbGallery 2.5 and it really doesnt matter about vbGallery because the only change between 2.43 and 2.5 was the addition of the flash uploader thats it. Thus if you are having an issue it might be from vbadvanced cms and differences in the code structure there. You might even need to hire some vbadvanced coder or vbulletin.org coder who wants to create some custom mod for you.

Thanks for the response in a matter of minutes of me posting this another member here sent me to a site that Zach was an admin on (I can't remember it now but it is in my pm box) and after reading teh threads on there and downloading that version I had it working on my site in a matter of minutes (therefore wasting the hours I have spent so far today) but at least it is done now and it moves us a step closer to finishing our over-haul of our website.

I thank both Chuck S for his help on both the initial issues I have had, the support here has been perfect and you couldn't ask for anything more, and would like to thank Ramses for providing me with the link to teh version which ultimately worked.

I can now see that it was the best decision I have ever made for purchasing this system and will now look at some of your other systems now I have seen the fantastic support that has been shown here.

If anyone else has the issue: this link is what ended up working under my current setup - once again thanks to Ramses for providing it to me and chuck for a fantastic product
