How do I get the condition $cats['catimage'] to be true?

I can't get the categories to show thumbnails next to the name of the catgegory. I have found out that the reason is that this

Content visible to verified customers only.

is not TRUE in the categories where I can't see the thumbnails. How do I get the condition to be true? Couldn't find a setting like that in categories' properties

You need to actually view an image within that category and under the image tools dropdown click the option to set as category image.
