Uniform thumbnails Luciano is where you crop an image the same size square from the center of an image. It is an Imagemagick only feature but Photopost Pro has this.

Ahhh I understand...

I use this with gd2.. its a pretty complex hack.. (hard coded, so no way i would release it) but I do not allways crop from center. Actually i do for landscape format images. For portrait images I take center and move up by 30%, that fits most cases. Also users, if the automated crop does not fit their needs, can manually recrop to square their images and even zoom in..
Unfortunately the server where I had this running is down for the moment.. but i'll have it running again on next site.

yeah I suppose one would have to have some hard core hack with GD2 because thats not a native feature in GD2.
Imagemagick by default has the ability.

actually no, its not that hard to do the cropping.. its like calculating the normal crop.. only you use a different formula...
but you need 4 extra fields in database so that the "crop is remembered" if the user decides to modify the crop.. (example: zoom in by 3x the bottom left corner)
otherwise his crop is lost when you rebuild the thumbnails..
but thats going off topic.. sorry,
Luc

yeah I know what you mean I was just referring to the non native ability in GD which means you need to hack it.

Well I simplified my hack for square thumbs..
added the option for portrait images to be cropped center or top
And added the thumbnail sharpener..
it only supports gd2.. but as the stuff is also imagemagick built in.. i think it should not be difficult to add imagemagick support.. feel free to add that..(i do not have imagemagick installed)
here it is.. 4 file edits.. and one extra file.. http://www.photopost.com/forum/vbgal...sharpener.html
