New images to show on Forum homepage

Ok, I thought this would be simple, as there was a setting for it!

I have enabled the show images on your forumhome and can see the latest uploaded 4 images (just as I specified) great when logged into the forum as admin... but no users can see them.

I've had a search on here and the only information I can find is very old, so don't really want to hack anything if things have changed since they were posted.

Running vBulletin 3.6.8 and PhotoPost vBGallery v2.3

Have you set permissions on which usergroups can see things etc in your gallery admin setup?

yes, the gallery has been running a while.

It's only today that we decided to put a strip of the latest images across the top of the main forum page.

The permissions across the reg users, mods & admin only differ as follows:-

Mods & Admin can:-

Moderate this group's images
Moderate this group's posts
Can upload images as other users
Can edit other's images
Can delete other's images
Can edit other's posts
Can delete other's posts

whereas reg users can't

However, its only the admin that can see the image strip on the main forum

The Craft Diner

You have it set that guests can not even view your gallery which is alot of the problem there. If guests can not view the gallery they cant view gallery content

I'm not expecting Guests to see the strip (even admin can't see images before they have logged on!), but once someone has logged on, they should see the strip on the home page, just like the admin can once logged on.

We've always had images hidden from guests due to the fact that a lot of our images contain people's children etc.

I've given access to guests to view thumbnails only, so you should be able to see the gallery now.

This does allow the strip on the forum mainpage to be displayed before and after people login, however even when logged in as a user, if you click on one of those images, it takes you to the gallery but you are not logged on.

So, this is where is doesn't make sense, if I click on the Gallery link in the navbar (when logged on as a user), it takes me straight to the gallery, logged in perfectly as the same user.

But if I click on an image link from the (now newly displayed) gallery main page strip, it takes me to that gallery BUT not logged in.

Moving forward at least...

Make sure you set cookies in vb admin so that the domain reads this and this will prevent people from being logged out since your using multiple domain name structures meaning some urls have www and some dont which will cause you to be logged out if your cookie is not global.

Yep that's the cookie! The cookie wasn't set at all.

So allowing guests to see the thumbnails has fixed this, I'm ok with that as they can't enlarge the pics, so can't see any detail without registering.

Thanks Chuck.
