Max Size when using "Save Original Files"

I have the "Save Original Files" option turned on and a limit of 2MB. That all works fine (with exception of the misleading dimensions in "view Allowed Extensions", but that's a different issue).

However, I'm wondering if there is actually a maximum size limit of pixels, and if so what it is and if it can be edited somehow?

If there's no limit, wouldn't it be a security risk, if say someone created a picture that took up less than 2MB but had gigantic dimensions, which could keep the server busy for ages trying to scale it? Hopefully I'm just being paranoid ;) and no, I haven't tried testing it myself :)

Thanks in advance for an answer of this question
Regards,
Frederik

I plan to add a original file dimensions. :)

- as for problems w/ dimensions I have processed
26,329x2352 @ 6megs JPG

The biggest problem is ram on the server to use while process.
- GD2
1 meg jpg = 100 megs of ram needed
6 meg jpg = 600-900megs ram needed
