Basic Q: How do users create categories?

When my users upload photos, the photos should go into galleries of the user's creation and choice. But not all categories are going to be named for their usernames; users should be able to name their categories & subcategories whatever they wish. (Hence, we're not using a "Member's Category.")

How do they do this, very simply?

Is there any way for them to specify a new gallery name WHEN they're uploading? Or do they have to FIRST hit "My Stuff" then "Category Admin", etc.? That would be very un-user-friendly and not at all self-explanatory.

BTW: I may be misusing the terms "gallery" and "category." Maybe the correct term is "album"?

Whatever it's called, what I want is for users to be able to create different headings (whether they be called categories, galleries or albums), into which they may upload photos. For example, I may want to upload photos under the heading "My family" and other photos under the heading "Artwork" or "Candid shots of our group." And maybe some of those headings is open, so other users can add their photos to, say, "Artwork."

Preferably, all this is possible ON the upload page. Otherwise it's too confusing for my users.

How do we do all this in vBGallery? I don't see any documentation for it, and am having trouble experimenting without confusing my current users!

Hello,

Each category when created or edited has an option to allow members to create sub-categories or not. By default it is "not".

AdminCP => Edit Categories => Category Options
- Allow Users to Create Sub-Categories [x] yes [ ] no

If the usergroup allows the option to create a category the list should show up as a place to make them.

Yes, I have set "Allow Users to Create Sub-Categories" to Yes for all categories, and all users have permission to create categories.

What do you mean by "the list should show up as a place to make them"? Which list are you referring to?

When they upload an image, there is no option to create a category/gallery/album into which they can place the images they're uploading. How do they do this?

(As I mentioned, first having to click on "My Stuff" then "Category Admin", etc. is laborious and not at all clear, or very user-friendly. I am assuming I'm missing something.)
