| Photopost to VBgallery import script
Is there any plan to make a working Photopost to VBgallery import script ?
I know there is one that is linked below but its full of problems
I have a customer running both galleries and would like to stick with VBgallery, but since there is a supported vbgallery to photopost import script we may be forced to go that direction ....

Post 7 in this thread may explain more in detail why there is no official photopost pro to vbgallery import as that is how we have normally determined what importers we have written. PhotoPost Pro to PhotoPost vBGallery
It is just not a path most companies would move towards since you try to go forward. Writing an importer from our 129.00 to a 59.00 lower featured product is not a fiscally responsible move.

Is there any talk of furtheriing the Integration of PP with VB like VBgallery ?
Adding the Admin to the ADMIN CP etc ?
Or is VBgallery going to be the red headed step child ?

I am not going to comment on the red headed step child comment here.
vbGallery and Photopost pretty much use the same integration with vb on the front end so there is literally no difference there. Photopost being a product which integrates with many forums has its own admin panel. I would think personally this will always remain the same. For those who really want to show the Photopost admin in vb admin I beleive there is a hack for such a thing in the mod corner.

Could you please PM me so I can see what we need to do from here to convert 3 sites of mine.
Thanks. |

I think you misunderstood any posts elsewhere. I do not have any Photopost Pro to vbGallery import script nor will our company be making one since Photopost Pro is our flagship product and making a script to a lesser version of a gallery is not something you see companies do. They make scripts to update or convert lesser galleries to the superior ones.

It is possibly somewhat what your after but thats a way old thread written for a way old vbgallery before we owned the product. You can feel free to download and modify such an unsupport script to your needs and test this on your own.
You directed this discussion towards me saying I had a script I had written for such an import which is why I stated there is no such a script.

| The photopost license forbids using the script anywhere but the domain it was purchased for. Furthermore, the license forbids selling the script to another party.
As I undersand it, access to the downloads area for either script costs the same amount.
Thus, unless you are saying it costs your company more to support a user using vBgallery than Photopost Pro, your statement that providing an importer isn't fiscally responsible does not make sense. Your company makes an extra $59, no?

No what I am saying is importers are written for competitive products as I have explained and vbgallery is not a competitive product.
The non fiscal portion I am referring to is it makes no sense for the Photopost company to release an import script from one of our 129.00 gallery to our 59.00 gallery. It is not done. There are usually upgrades or imports to go up the line not down.
Now with that said do realize the any importers we have ever created where all written by me in my free time and in all honesty have no connection to the Photopost company other than I released them here and support them here since I work for the company. These where all something I did on my own and where never something I was paid to do.

| I don't think you are grasping what I'm saying. As long as you keep talking about dollars and cents, going from one product to another will ALWAYS make the company more money due to the license restrictions this company imposes on it's customers.
You have a subset of customers that, for whatever reason, are not entirely satisfied with their Photopost Pro set-up and they wish to use another product that you offer.
I have a suggestion: write up professional import scripts for going to/from either product and offer them for sale in addition to the current license fee structure you have going on here. Support them OFFICIALLY.
