gallery link to show as a category

Instead of having the gallery link in the navbar. Is there a way to have the gallery appear as another forum on the main forum? This way when some adds a comment or photo, the category will show something new has been added.

After all the gallery is set up just like the forum. Is this a difficult thing to accomplish?

That would be hugely useful. To make it integrate seamlessly, I have our gallery set up as a forum, but it's just a link. It doesn't ever indicate the number of photos or whether any new photos have been added. Users must always check the gallery to see if there's anything new.

It'd be terrific if vBGallery noted new photo uploads just like forums note new posts.

I am also searching for this. I now Kirby has done this on his page and its looking great. Hopefully he shares how he has done it.
