Hi,

From my very simple tests, there is a problem with uploading gif files.
Whenever i tried to upload a gif file, the page hangs and a file named core.#### is created ...

Anyway to fix this ?

Thanks

Allright once again the error occured.
There isn't any problem with the jpg file type.

But when it comes to gif images, the script stops working and a core.#### file is created ...

I tried to reupload all files ...

it does not happen for each gif file.
Here with GD2 enabled, apache 1.3.33 - PHP 4.3.10 (standard linux debian stable)

Here's a gif that seems to do the trick, and kills the upload process.

I'm experienced with PHP and GD and must admit I have never seen such behaviour before. It is more than likely a bug in GD or PHP. Altough what triggers the bug might be in the VBG code obviously, and might be avoided.

I'm curious to see if you can reproduce. On my site, it is absolutely impossible to upload those files, I just tested again (2.1).

Really strange.

I tryed those images and yes they just sat there w/ the hour glass going.
- I also tryed to upload to Photopost Pro

"The file you uploaded was not an acceptable format.: sfe_lep1.gif"

What was used to create the images ?

EDIT:
I'll run some command line w/ image magic and GD to see what errors popup

I have no idea where these images come from.
But this happens for more than a few gif files; most of the files seem to have nothing in common tough.
It's weird. It does not ruin my installation tough - just wanted to confirm that this guy's bug indeed exists.

- I did take them into Photoshop 7
"Save for Web" as a Gif and it uploaded with out problems.

There must be some extra info in the images that is killing the process.

I can provide some basic informations about my gif file;

Width: 256 px
Height: 384 px
Horizontal Resolution: 96 dpi
Vertical Resolution: 96 dpi
Bit Dept: 8
Frame Count: 1

I just opened my gif file with notepad and my gif file header starts with "GIF87a" while my other gif files starts with "GIF89a"

Thank you sebulba for confirming my problem

I have tested the output of 20 or so programs.
All output in gif format. I have not made the gallery error on upload.

I have no answer yet.

Interesting I know with jpg images there is extra information stored which years ago led to the dreaded IE/PhotoShop bug with Abode and we coded into Photopost jpegtran so users could have jpegtran strip the image header of the offending info but I have never heard of GIF images being encoded in such a manner.
