Stop presenting users a link to the original image!

Hmm, maybe I just don't get how this works.

If I let a usergroup/category show the 'large image' they also get a link to the ORIGINAL image. The large is watermarked the original is not, of course.

I've just spent 90 mins reviewing my permissions. Only 4 groups have permissions to view original - admin, supermod, mod and 'gallery helper'. A regular registered user can always view the original image!

I've checked and the gallery is using the default permissions for my test user's group 'registered user' but I get a link to the original and can view it.

How can I fix it so my registered users stop being given a link to the original image?

bulbasnore,

Is there a test account we can check it out with? I just tried recreating this on my site with no problems but it's using the new vBG 2.x beta so there is a chance this may have been fixed between the versions.

Yes. I can give you a test account. I looked in the members area for a place to file a support ticket with the info, but didnt' find one.

Bulbasnore, sorry I missed your PM. My role here at PP has changed slightly and am no longer a staff support person but a volunteer. I'll forward your PM(s) to Zachariah.

Well folks, I've been up and down the permissions. Only the admins and gallery mods, and our 'gallery helpers' group have permissions to see ORIGINALS. There are no exceptions for other groups AND there are only like 15 people in the above groups.

Can anyone help me find where PPVB checks these permissions in the code?
Is anyone else having the same problem?

OK folks.

NO ONE in my gallery has permissions to view originals any more!
Not by usergroup permission!
Not by category permission!

And yet EVERYONE with permission to view 'Large Images' can see the links to the original and click through them or the 'Large Image' to see the original.

So, this completely defeats the watermark.

I'm going to be reduced to editing the templates in a couple hours.

Thanks. Unfortunately, the test account won't help you diagnose this anymore, as we had a new set of images to upload and I had to cut the links to the originals out of the template to prevent people from snagging our work.

If you want to test it, I can revert -- send me a time for your testing.

This issue is still happening. You can view the problem here:
The PokeGym

Using the account I'm posting now in the contact info. Can we get some help on this... we'd really like the product to work as designed for us?

wELL I went to your site And clicked on an image.. and it told me I had to login in order to see the large image.. i did not even try to view the original because i couldn't even see the "normal" one without loggin in..

BUT.. if I were you i would upgrade to 2.43.. there is little problem in 2.42 that makes that i still could see both. large and original.. that was fixed in 2.43..

Luciano, thanks for your comments. We're still on 3.6.x hence 2.4.2. 2.4.3 is 3.7.x only, no?

yeah its the profile stuff that wouldnt work.. thus creating errors..
but you could download 2.43 and use displayimage.php from 2.43. it should work in both version.. simply some permission check was added..
