Question Members sub-galleries

When a member uploads their first image to members category, a folder is automatically be created for them, and the name of the folder is the username. Allright

Because users can have some different interest, they want to organize their pictures in sub-galleries (holydays, children, pets, car ... want you want). I cannot find how then can create sub galleries INSIDE their main gallery. If I allow Members Group to create categories, they can create them at the Members category root, that is not interesting.

When a member that is allowed to create categories want to do, when vBgallery ask for choosing parent category, he cannot choose his own folder...

Any Idea ?

Re: Members sub-galleries

They choose the Members Category as the parent, and it will show up under their username folder.

Re: Members sub-galleries

Conqsoft, If I do what you mean the new gallery is created the members galleries root, not INSIDE their own folder.

BTW, the members folders do not appear when I have to choose a parent category in the category manager :/

Re: Members sub-galleries

You need to edit the Members Category and turn on the option to allow sub-categories to be created, then it will show up in the list. If they create a category with the Members Category as the parent it will show up under thier username.

And they can go as deep as they want. Example on my site:

Re: Members sub-galleries

(I saw that you just registered on my site; however, only paying members can create their own categories, so you won't be able to do it yourself. You can see from my example above where I have many sub-categories that show up under my username.)

Re: Members sub-galleries

Yes. I just saw that basic members could not have their own cat. So I removed the pic I uploaded to not pollute your website. I also saw that sub-galleries runs well on our website.

I will check _again_ my groups and categories option.

If it does not run, I will be back to you via PM

Thanks for interest

Re: Members sub-galleries

Check your display depth too. If you set it higher than 1, it will show the sub-cats of the Members Category on the index of your Gallery.

Re: Members sub-galleries

Conqsoft, a last tuning tip ...

When creating a subcategory, the member will have the "Allow others to upload this category" checkbox checked by default

I cannot find the option to turn it off by default...

Many thanks !

Re: Members sub-galleries

To change that you'll probably have to modify the template.

If you don't want to allow them to turn that on at all, you can change that under the Gallery AdminCP Modify Settings at the very bottom.
