Bulk Upload...

is there a good option for massive bulk upload?

like 100+ images at a time or something.
What is currently the best way to handle that? (or the only way through the normal upload procedure done a bazzllion times?)

Re: Bulk Upload...

Have you taken a look at the FTP upload option? That's the best method to use for bulk uploading.

no. how does that work? where is it?

sounds promising....I was hoping for something like.

1. just upload all the files via ftp to a gallery folder
2. the gallery auto scans the for the files...and creates the images? (thumbs and all).

or am I dreaming?

Re: Bulk Upload...

That's pretty much what it does.
If you check the readme file there are instructions in there on how to set up FTP uploads.

hmm... ok was looking at the read me...so from it seems when you upload the files upload are all put as under a person (id number) ??

is there a way to buld upload to a specific category?
like if I have 500 dog pics and 500 cat pics. I want to upload all dog pics to the dog folder and cats to the cats. ...etc.

is that possible?

and once one bulk uploads....what then? do you have upthe counters or something? or will it just "know"?

I did a few ftp test uploads but couldn't get vba to find them.

I am a pain in the butt or what? lol

Just upload the dog pics all at once, then once it finishes processing them upload the cat pics.

No, you do not need to update counters or anything.

Re: Bulk Upload...

the only problem I had was I did 100 at a time, after the first hundered it would not go to the next 100 so I had to just upload 100 at a time..

if I had 200 pics uploaded, it would do the 1st 100, then go to a solid white page.. may have needed to do 50 at a time instead.. I dunno..

Re: Bulk Upload...

The number you can do at a time is going to depend on the size of the images and such, plus what your server can handle.

Re: Bulk Upload...

LMAO!!!!!! omg... I just figured out what I was doing wrong. And you won't believe how n00b it was. I was sooo confused cause I didn't realize you guys were talking the Bulk Upload feature via the actual forum's vbagallery upload page !!!

I was trying to follow instructions based on just uploading DIRECTLY TO THE FTP (ie. never looking at the upload page) to some "category" folder...and fini!! But since there is no "category" folder (just numbered folders)....I was soo lost. +_+ doh!!

I couldn't understand wtf you guys were talking about by uploading to "categories". lmao.

Well in my n00b defense... the instructions never say to actually go the upload page and do kinda make it seem like you just upload (directly via FTP to server) to the server and you're done!

it should say something like: FTP files to user/userid folder (need to create) THEN go to your vbaGallery upload page and look at the BULK FTP OPTIONS area and check UPLOAD FROM SERVER at the bottom to process the files.

(yah I know.. excuses excuses... Im a dope. What can I say?) lol well... I got it working now. thanks!! lol

<<< hides in shame *^_^*
