Separating uploaded images into sub-folders?

Hello members and coders of VBA.

We are having a bit of an issue concerning VBAgallery that I was hoping someone might have a solution to. Our VBA image gallery has well over 3100+ images and we plan to add hundreds more in the near future. This is going to be a problem. By default VBAgallery stores all it's images in the folder /gallery/files/ most FTP clients out there have a limit of only showing 2000 files in a folder. So we are hoping there is a way or modification that can be made to VBAgallery that will seperate images into subfolders. Basically what we want is whenever we create a new category a new folder will be created for that category and images added to that category will go into it's own specific folder. I am sure we are not the only ones to run into this issue so if anyone can provide any ideas for a solution it would be appreciated.

By default it stores the images according to the userid. If the userid was 573 (for example), then the path to the images would be gallery/files/5/7/3. If it's storing them all in the gallery/files directory then you have used the 'Change File Storage Method' maintenance tool. This tool should only be used when a server is running in safe mode. If your server is not running in safe mode then you can use that option to move your images back into the normal storage method.
