Photopost change in picture nameing conventions

I just noticed that since we previously ran I think v3.X of PP and now using v7, I no longer see the picture file names that were given that immediately identified the owner of the picture by the user# id.
For example.
A path and file name used to be:

http://www.website.com/photopost/data/825/6483blowout.jpg

6483 being the user id#
I could easily search my hard drive backup or even server with all photos beginning with 6483*jpg and know who all those photos belonged to.

Now I am noticing with ll the new uploads the past few weeks since we reopened the site with PPv7, the file names are named exactly as the user named it with no user id attached as a prefix so the admins can determine who it belongs to.

Now I see something like this

http://www.website.com/photopost/data/959/IMG_2262_no_text.jpg

Am I missing something? are there separate directories on the server specifically for just each user?

Is there an option in PP that we didnt click yes to have the files include the user id in the name?

Thanks for your help

That was changed many years ago in version 5.0

There is no backward compatibility

I'm going to lose all access to be able to find users photos that are backed up while not viewing online? I'm surprised it was changed. What was the reasoning?
If users lose their photos and I know I have it as a backup, it wont matter because I could now no longer find them by a file name associated to their id.
We had one long time user die this year and his daughter wrote me to ask if I could copy all his uploaded photos onto a disk for her as a memory. It was easy for me to do because of my search I mentioned above.

Also had a few users who had a couple very important pictures somehow didnt transfer from all the upgrades. I can immediately find them from my previous backup because I know their user id#.
With the new system, I will never be able to find a users picture

Well I am not too sure what you mean by your lose user photos.

For you to backup your site you would backup both the data directory so you have ALL the files and you would backup the mysql database.

The file structure was changed in 5.0 for a reason.

Some users lost their photos through the transition and upgrades.
I know the past owner of the website we bought used to tell me since March when I took over admin functions, to always back up the current contest folder at the end of each week just by going in via ftp and copy it to my hard drive before I would do a mass move of the pictures to the contest archives.
He told me this would prevent losing pictures which has happened to him in the past if either he lost electricity at home while doing the mass move or something happened with the server and it went down during his mass move process.
When either of those scenarios happened, he could always fall back on the group of about 100 pictures uploaded that week to the contest and pick out the user by their id in the file name that lost one or two pictures and place them back into the users member gallery.

well all I can tell you is the application works how it works. Upgrading from a photopost thats 5 yrs old or so is going to find differences.
