Bulk upload.. Organizing folders instead of uploading under /users?

I have just installed the gallery on our server. Everything is great! The only problem I have is with the bulk uploader.

I did read the read me file...
Quote:
FTP & Bulk Uploads:
If you plan to allow some of your users to upload files via FTP, you will first need to make sure that your 'FTP User Folder Path' setting (listed under the 'Modify Settings' link under your 'vBa Gallery' options in your Admin CP) is set to the full path to your '/gallery/users' folder.
You will then need to create a new folder under your '/gallery/users' directory and name it according to that user's userid (so if the user's userid was 5, you would simple create a new folder called 5 under your '/gallery/users' directory.
Lastly, you will need to create a new FTP account on your server for that user and make sure they have access to the newly created folder to upload their files to.
I have this all set up and had tested it. My problem is that I want to be able to organize the folders and not have them uploaded to a users account for those that would be bulk uploading as a STAFF member...

Right now when they upload it goes to /gallery/users/userID and we have TONS of images I would not want them to stay in a users folder nor move over to a numbered folder (if that be the case)

I would like to go to a general folder then the be something like...

/screencaps/season2/203
or
/photoshot/2004

The problem is that we have over 70K images and that is only going to get BIGGER!... and with having screen captures from episodes I would like to have a folder for each episode so that it is filed neatly and I would be able to fine that folder on the server easily.

Is this even possible?

Thank you...

Sorry, but currently that is the only bulk upload method.

Ok.. so then all of the bulk uploading is saved in the users folder? So is there anyway to put subfolders within the users folders once they have uploaded them? It is just that I would hate to have like 10,000 images on in one folder. It would be hard to back up the images.

Re: Bulk upload.. Organizing folders instead of uploading under /users?

I have another question I just realize something...

So I am to set up the FTP to go to

gallery/users/(user ID)

But then when I looked in the /gallery/files/1

I noticed that all the images that I bulk uploaded at in both folders? Why would they be in both folders? Please let me know how this uploading system works cause even if it doesnt work like my old gallery (coppermine) that allowed for subfolders... it would be great to figure this out.

Once you add them to your gallery, they should be removed from your users directory structure.

manually removed or auto removed?

I have read the "Read Me" file.. and there is nothing in there on how this gallery works.

Is there anywhere else that I can find out how this gallery works. Honestly I only got it cause I have a VB board and others suggested it... but this gallery does not run anywhere like my old coppermine gallery and I am finding it very confusing trying to figure out what is happening.

I cant even figure out the permissions which is really important cause I dont want to allow everyone to upload nor do I want all of the mods to be able to mass edit the galleries.

Thank you for everyones help...

They should be automatically removed. Do you have your users directory (and the usernumber directories under it) set to permissions of 777?

All Gallery images are stored under the files directory, organized by user number.

I have done that now.. thank you... though I am still trying to figure this system all out... this part I suppose is figured out though it was not what I hoped it would be like to bulk upload.. I guess I will just get use to it.

Thanks for all your help.
