How to Sub Categories

I have read through the forum but can not find an answer.

Basically I have this structure

Public Area
- Category 1
- Category 2

Private Area
- Category 1
---Subcategory 1
---Subcategory 2
- Category 2

Etc...

The problem I am having is that I can not get the Sub Categories to show.
I have changed the depth via

Depth of Categories on Index
The depth of categories to show in the category listings on your main index page. If you set this option to '2', the current category level and any child categories one level below that will be displayed.

I have set this from 2 - 5 to with no change

I have changed the Categorybit Options to increase the depth and I have click yes to "show subcats".

I want the subcategories to show on the main gallery page.

I just checked your site, but I'm only seeing 2 categories there...
