Associate Image

Want to attempt to use vbGallery as a file libary. Have configured it to allow the user to upload a zip file to a category. Is there a method of allowing the user to also upload an image and get that to display instead of the red cross I currently get in the gallery?

Re: Associate Image

Currently there is not an option to allow users to upload a thumbnail. If you create an image called 'file_zip.gif' though and upload that to your gallery/images folder then that will be shown instead of the red x.

Re: Associate Image

Thanks Brian - not had a chance to look at the Database structure - seem to rember a comment somewhere that there is a field that stores file_zip.gif agains the file entry - is that correct?

That would mean I assume that a competent coder could rig a mod to upload the image and associate it without a Db change - or am I clutching at straws?

The reason being is that I maintain a reasonablly large file library for the flight sim community and one of the main areas is "skins" for planes - ie paint jobs and its almost a requirement for a file library to show what the skin is to attract the potential downloader

Re: Associate Image

Basically the way things works is if a file is uploaded and a thumbnail cannot be created then the thumbname field is left blank. Then if a file does not have a thumbnail specified in the database, the script simply displays the default image based on that file's extension.
No, a competent coder shouldn not have too much of a problem with just adding something to update the thumbname field for these files.
