Question Backing Up

How can I backup the images in my old database to move into my new one if possible, and then how do I add them back?

Re: Backing Up

Back up the database. Back up everything under the files directory under your Gallery directory.

Re: Backing Up

The images aren't stored in the DB, only info about them. The actual images are in that files directory.

Re: Backing Up

Right i've copied all users images to files on my computer. Kept them in the same directory structure. I've also backed up my gallery database and saved that to my computer also.

However, my forum db tables now start with FORUM so how can I add this back so users images are how they were before I changed the forum around? I've also moved the forum to a new folder so it's not www.sgfdgdgd.com/fourm but now www.sfr4tr4gt53.com/community

Is there a way to do this?

Re: Backing Up

Just upload the images, restore your gallery backup, and then rename the tables and add the prefix to each one.

Re: Backing Up

Right, i have the text file backed up onto my computer. How do I install this back into the database. The text file is named '_TABLE_.sql' and is 367kb in size.

I'm just re-uploading my users images back into the gallery folders on my server.

Re: Backing Up

Either go to phpMyAdmin and upload the sql file through there, or restore it through telnet. Then delete the gallery tables that were created when you installed it again and rename the tables you just restored.

Re: Backing Up

Okay, with telnet I can use this command can't I? I don't want to delete my db (I have backed up though):

mysql -uUSERNAME -p NEWDBNAME < /PATH/TO/NEW/FILE.SQL

Re: Backing Up

Well it didn't work. Users were assigned to the wrong images and images were not assigned to anyone. Even when updating counters.

Never mind, just have to start from new.

Re: Backing Up

If users were assigned to the wrong images, then you didn't use the same user table that you were using before. The userids don't get changed during a backup/restore.

Re: Backing Up

I first re-inserted the forum database for my new forum.

I then inserted the gallery database and changed the adv_gallery_name_thingy to FORUMadv_gallery_name_thingy

My database prefix is now FORUM, I had none before.

It didn't work. My forum does.

Re: Backing Up

There's no way that would happen unless you modifed your user table and/or your gallery tables.

Re: Backing Up

My tables were exactly the same as they were when they were downloaded. I wouldn't know how to alter them.
