Limit amount of images stored?

Is it possible to limit the amount of images stored either by user or preferably on a category basis? I have noted a total storage space limit available.

I was hoping that the gallery link in my forum postbit could go to the category where they just have one master image and then other images can just be viewed in other categories from the view all users images link.

on the subject of limiting,

what would be a fair amount of space for 10 images at the most, my forum is fairly large and getting whacked for space or bandwidth is always a concern.

The type of gallery I am setting up can be structured in many ways. If I had a category matching each of my forum names it would be quite a few. Are there any performance issues with lots of categories? This is why I also asked about the search extra menu as I was matching a text field dropdown to the names of all my forums.

You can limit the amount of space by usergroup. Does that help?

Re: Limit amount of images stored?

Do they get resized on upload and without launching my gallery what would be the best way to suss out roughly how much to allow for an average of 10 images?

There isn't a connection with the maximum file uploads in the forums then?

My forums allow 5 image attachments which is ideal as I am approaching 10'000 members. If they had a meg I would soon fill my webspace, I've no idea if a meg is alot for images but if they aren't resized it could be small with the resolution of some of todays cameras.

Yes they get resized upon upload, or if you bulk upload through FTP they resize on process.

The upload limits are completely independant of the forum settings.
