Add Extra Dropdown select on search

Hi all, back again

I have a required field on upload where a single selection has to be selected.

Is it possible to match this item on the search page so that when someone searches a category they can also select this field from a dropdown list?

I assume I would need to modify a search template if there is one but I don't know what code I would need to pass this field to the search.
